How Pneumatic Control Valve Actuator works

2023-10-13

A pneumatic control valve actuator is a device that uses compressed air to open and close a valve. It consists of a diaphragm or piston, a spring, and a set of control valves.

When air is supplied to the actuator, it pushes against the diaphragm or piston, which in turn pushes against the valve stem. This force is opposed by a spring, which provides the necessary resistance to keep the valve in a closed position.

The amount of air pressure supplied to the actuator determines the force applied to the valve stem, and therefore, the position of the valve. When the air pressure is increased, the valve opens, and when it is decreased, the valve closes.

The control valves regulate the air pressure supplied to the actuator, allowing the valve to be opened or closed to a precise position based on the input signal received from a control system. The control system can be a computer, a PLC, or a manual controller.

Pneumatic control valve actuators are widely used in various industries because they are reliable, durable, and provide accurate control of valves.
