Main features of steel structure shot blasting machine

2023-12-07

Steel structure shot blasting machines are industrial equipment used for surface preparation and cleaning of steel structures before painting, coating, or other finishing processes. These machines are designed to remove rust, scale, old paint, and contaminants from the surface of steel components. Here are the main features of a steel structure shot blasting machine:

1. Shot Blasting Chamber: The machine consists of a chamber or cabinet where the shot blasting process takes place. This chamber is typically lined with wear-resistant materials to withstand the abrasive impact and ensure durability.

2. Blast Wheel(s): Blast wheels are the primary components responsible for propelling abrasive media (such as steel shots, grit, or pellets) at high velocity onto the surface of the steel structure. These wheels are strategically positioned to achieve uniform coverage and efficient cleaning.

3. Abrasive Recovery System: After impacting the steel surface, the abrasive media rebounds and falls back into the machine. An abrasive recovery system collects and recycles the used media, separating it from debris and contaminants for reuse in the blasting process, minimizing waste and reducing costs.

4. Dust Collection System: Shot blasting generates dust and debris as a byproduct. A dust collection system, comprising filters and ventilation, removes and contains the airborne particles, ensuring a clean and safe working environment while preventing environmental pollution.

5. Conveyor System: In larger machines designed for processing massive steel structures, a conveyor system moves the components through the blasting chamber at a controlled speed. This allows for consistent and thorough cleaning of the entire surface area.
